Blog Tour Stop & 5 Captivating-Happy-HeartWrenching-LoveFilled Stars Review of "Present Perfect" by Alison G. Bailey

Synopsis:
Amanda Kelly spent her entire life trying to control every aspect of it, while striving for perfection. Her obsession with being perfect, along with her feelings of worthlessness, consumed her. The one thing she thought was perfect in her life was the bond she shared with her best friend, Noah.

Everything was going according to her life plan until she woke up one day and realized she had fallen in love with him. The one thing she couldn’t control was the affect he had on her. Noah had the power to give her one hundred lifetimes of happiness, which also gave him the power to completely devastate her. He was the one thing in her life that was perfect, but she couldn't allow herself to have him.

Her life begins to unravel. Events take over and force her to let go of her dreams and desires. She needs to realize that a person cannot control the events in their life, only their reaction to them...but will it be too late for her to save her relationship with her best friend? Present Perfect is a story of how past events have present consequences and how perfect your present could be if you stopped fighting and just allowed it to happen.

My 5 Captivating-Happy-HeartWrenching-LoveFilled Stars Review:

It's more than a love story, it's a life story, it captures your mind and captivates your heart.

I'm sitting here trying to think of where to begin this review. There are so many words that come to mind when I think about "Present Perfect". The emotions I feel in my heart are so light and yet at the same time very deep as I'm looking over my review notes, that I'm almost at a loss for what to say.

This story had me from the beginning...

...I've been unsure about many things in my life except for one thing, that I have always loved him. Every single minute of every single day that I have been on this earth, my heart has belonged to him. It has never been a question, never a doubt. The love had taken on many different forms over the years, but it had always been a constant. - Tweet, Present Perfect

Tweet and Noah are best friends... they grow up together, they laugh together, share dreams and life's pains together. They argue, fight and love each other.

As they grow up and start to see each other differently, they internally recognize the others changes & increasing significance in their hearts while their bodies crave each-others. They both know and feel depth of magnetism linking their souls.

The problem? Tweet doesn't think she is good enough for Noah & doesn't want to risk losing the special bond & friendship that they have had all of their lives...

...Noah deserved perfect because he was and I was as far from perfect as you could get. Plus, we were best friends and I never wanted that to change... - Tweet, Present Perfect

But, Noah knows what he wants, and he fights for it...

"I'm not sorry about what happened between us in here. Except that you won't be with me."

"It's not that I don't want to. I can't. Besides, you deserve better than me, Noah."

"There isn't anyone better than you for me," he said, looking at me over his shoulder.

The constant passion and truth to Noah's love for Tweet is so evident & deeply touching that even in his pain, my heart continually melted.

"There hasn't been a day in my life that I haven't loved you. I wish you would just let me love you." - Noah, Present Perfect

But the battle for their love makes him weary. There is so much life to be lived. So many more things they could share...

"You will always be the most important thing in my life. I'll always be there for you no matter what or who. I have no past without you and I can't imagine a future that doesn't include you. I just need some time to figure out how I can have you in my life without having you be my life."- Noah, Present Perfect

Time goes on, their paths cross each-others and run parallel, always near...but just out of reach. Tweet's insecurities are insurmountable & jeopardize their future together, even their very friendship.

       "I can't lose you, Noah"

"You'd never lose me, Tweet. I'll always be here if you need me."

Will it be too late for Noah and Tweet? Or will they come to each other and live the life of love that they have always shared to their very souls?

Alison G. Bailey's debut novel is absolutely amazing. I felt every emotion imaginable and loved every minute of it, even the ugly cry...I was consumed by "Present Perfect" and I cannot wait for more from Alison in "Past Imperfect" when we learn more about the Smurffucker (aka Brad) <3

Exclusive: NOAH'S ALT POV- PARTY SCENE
I was leaning up against the wall in one of the darker corners of the room. I got here early and picked this spot specifically so I’d have a clear and direct view of the front door. I didn’t want to leave anything to chance and possibly miss seeing them when they got here. I had been here for a half hour, had already downed two beers pretty quickly, and was working on my third. I was a little buzzed, but not drunk. It would take more than three beers to get me drunk.
I hadn’t talked to Tweet since the other night at our spot. It felt incredible to be next to her and to touch her again. I had been such an idiot to tell her we needed time apart, so I could get my feelings for her under control. Every time I was near her I wanted to put my hands and lips on her. The time apart had only made those feelings more intense. Standing on her front porch the other night after we argued I almost caved in. It was difficult enough staying in control being close to her, but when she leaned her back against my chest, and the scent of raspberry and vanilla hit my senses, I immediately got hard. It took all my strength not to turn her around, push her up against the door, and suck her lips into my mouth.
I had been miserable this past summer. Between baseball camp and visiting possible colleges, I filled the summer with a few girls. It was always the same thing when I was with them. The minute I closed my eyes all I saw was a pair of beautiful teal eyes. It had gotten to the point that I would hook up with a girl just so I could imagine the look in those teal eyes as I made her come. Shit, I needed to focus. I was getting hard just thinking about Tweet underneath me. Just then I felt a pair of lips crash into my upper arm. I looked down to find Beth propped up against me. She looked up at me with a drunken smile plastered across her face.
“Hey, baby,” Beth giggled. “You want to go upstairs?”  she slurred.
            “Beth, you’re drunk.”
            “So what.”
“You know it’s not going to happen between us.”
Ever since I told her we were done, she’s tried to hook up with me at every party we’d both been at. She gets drunk, makes a pass, and then gets pissed when I turn her down. It wasn’t that I didn’t like her. We’d been friends for years, but the minute Tweet asked me not to have sex or date Beth, it was over, whatever “it” was. Besides, Beth deserved better than someone who loved and would fantasize about another girl.
“Why not?!” she said angrily as she straightened and stood directly in front of me. I kept my eyes focused on the front door, never looking down at her. I felt her hands slowly start to slide underneath my shirt and over my abs, while at the same time I spotted Tweet and that Smurffucker Brad walk through the front door. I grabbed one of Beth’s wrists and tugged it out from under my shirt.
“Beth, knock it off.” I started to move away from her. I wanted to make sure I didn’t lose sight of Tweet in this crowd.
“You’re such an idiot, Noah. You could have me any time you wanted, but just because you’re precious fucking Tweet says no, you won’t even give us a chance.” She looked over her shoulder, following my gaze. “She obviously doesn’t want you. I mean, I’ve asked her a million times if she liked you like that and she always said no. When are you going to wise up? I know Brad. He’s a fast worker. I bet before the night’s over, he’ll have his dick in her.”
I pushed her back slightly and got right up in her face. “I don’t give a shit if your drunk and your feelings are hurt because I don’t want you, but don’t you ever fucking talk about her like that again,” I growled.
Tears started streaming down her face as her bottom lip began to quiver.  “I’m sorry,” she whispered.
I glanced up and saw Tweet and Brad heading toward the door on to the deck. Every muscle in my body tensed as I saw his hand that was resting on Tweet’s lower back, disappear under her shirt as they walked out.

Brad aka Smurffucker
I stepped away from Beth without uttering another word. I crossed the room heading toward to the kitchen. There was a sliding glass door in there leading to the deck. I could keep an eye on the Smurffucker without Tweet seeing me. I stood there and watched her staring out at the ocean, the breeze pushing her chocolate brown hair away from her gorgeous face. She wasn’t looking at Brad at all, but he was staring intensely at her. It made her uncomfortable. I could tell. She was drumming her fingers on the railing slightly. No one else would even notice the movement was so small. Tweet had no clue how beautiful and sexy she was. She’d always make a joke of it, not believing any guy thought of her that way. By the look in his beady eyes, I could tell Brad thought of her that way. I hated that asshole. He always acted like he was better than everyone else. He thought all he had to do was snap his fingers and girls would come running and do whatever he wanted. The stupid girls did. Tweet wasn’t stupid, but she was naïve.
After a few minutes, she turned to face him. Whatever she said made him laugh as he leaned down closer to her. The look on his face got more intense as he slowly began to move in closer to her. I saw his head tilt to the side just before their lips touched. Rage took over every part of my body. I slid the glass door open so hard it bounced off of the frame. I barely heard voices yelling at me asking what my problem was. I reached them in three short strides. In one fluid movement, I grabbed the back of Brad’s shirt, jerking him away from Tweet’s lips, and dragged him down on to the beach.
The second my feet hit the sand my fist hit his pretty face. “I FUCKING WARNED YOU ABOUT TOUCHING HER!” I screamed, slamming my fist into his face again.
He shoved me before his fist connected to my jaw causing me to stumble back. It took me a half a second to shake his punch off before ramming into him and tackling him to the ground. I straddled him. Each blow I inflected was harder than the last.
I was so out of control I didn’t realize anyone else was even around until I heard Tweet’s voice yell, “NOAH, STOP IT! YOU’RE GOING TO KILL HIM!”
I felt two sets of hands tear me off and pull me away from Brad. Tweet immediately went to his side and knelt down beside him, draping her arm around his shoulder. Glancing up, I saw tears in her eyes, pleading for me to calm down.
What the fuck was she doing? I thought she would get up and come to me, so we could leave, but she stayed by Brad’s side, comforting him. She was actually choosing him? I couldn’t believe it. Adrenalin and rage continued to pump through me when I snapped at her. “Is this what you want? Some mother fucking son of a bitch who just wants to get into your pants?”
I waited for her to answer me, for her to get up, and come to me, but she didn’t do either one.

I forcefully shrugged out of Spencer and Travis’s hold, turned away from her, and bulldozed my way up the steps and into the house. I was so fucking pissed. Why wouldn’t she listen to me?  She knew I wouldn’t lie to her. I warned her and she still chose him over me. I couldn’t get the image out of his lips and hands on her out of my head. She was mine and those were my lips that the Smurffucker was touching. I had never felt this much rage in my life. I needed to calm down. Passing through the room I grabbed the first thing that I knew would numb me.
