Blog Tour Stop, 4 Star Review & Giveaway for "Working It" by Kendall Ryan

A story of heart-stopping, toe-curling passion by the beloved bestselling author of Hard to Love, Resisting Her, and The Impact of You.

Straight-laced and well-mannered southerner Emmy Clarke is out of her depth in New York City’s fashion world, but when she lands a job as an assistant at a modeling agency it seems like the perfect mix of business and pleasure. Working under the notoriously tyrannical Fiona Stone is a nightmare, but there’s one distinct perk: ogling the ridiculously hot male models who parade through the office—particularly rising star Ben Shaw.

Ben is everything Emmy’s not: exquisitely gorgeous, highly paid, and well-traveled. He’s also got more issues than Vogue. Emmy looks after Ben on photo shoots, but she refuses to become another one of his lusting groupies. Ben finds Emmy’s refreshingly real attitude to be surprisingly attractive.

Against a backdrop of the most fashionable cities in the world, casual flirting turns into an illicit affair, but when Ben’s twisted past is revealed, and the bitter Fiona catches wind of their relationship, their careers and hearts are threatened.

Tamron's 4-STAR review of "Working It" by Kendall Ryan
I received an ARC (Thank You, Netgalley) of Working It by Kendall Ryan in exchange for an honest review, and I am sooooo glad I signed up for it.  Working It is the first book in the Love By Design Series, centering around the fashion industry. I know dick about said industry and models and such, so upon first glance, the blurb didn't hook me. I'm mortified to think that, had I been shopping for a book to read,  I may have passed on this nugget of oooey-gooey HOTNESS.  THAT would have been tragic!
Emerson "Emmy" Clarke is a small-town southern girl from Tennessee, who moves to the big city and lands a coveted spot at a major modeling agency in NYC. It's not just ANY job. It's the assistant to the biggest bitch in the whole city. Most of Fiona's assistants don't last very long, but Emmy is determined to succeed, so she continues to take crap from Fiona daily in order to live her dream.  Emmy is so naive about the world she's immersed in. I loved that she is wholesome and sweet, yet charming and funny. I guess, being a southern girl myself, I felt a kinship with her. I could relate to her.
Ben Shaw has been raised in the industry. His mom was a supermodel, and as soon as he was able, he too entered the business. In no time at all, he became the most sought-after male model on the planet. He is THE perfect male specimen. He's SEX-ON-A-FUCKING-STICK. He's dangerous, and instinctively we know that he's like fire, beautiful to look at, but if you touch him, he will burn your ass. It took me a while to fall for him, because he was the kind of guy that used women strictly to satisfy his physical needs. He wasn't the fall-in-love kind of guy. He was a player, and I feared for Emmy's kind heart.

So....when their jobs take them to Paris (Hello, the most romantic city on Earth) on an extended stay, of course the sparks fly. He's like a freakin' greek God, and she is beautiful and REAL. She has soft womanly curves that he's not used to (but that he REALLY likes) PLUS she possesses that sweet southern charm that is so foreign to him. He discovers that he LIKES being taken care of, which Emmy is prone to do (mothering of all creatures big and small is bred into all good girls in the South). As for Emmy, she decides to stow her halo and take a walk on the wild side. Win-Win, right? You'll have to read it to find out, because I can't really tell you anything else without spoiling it for you. I WILL, however, tell you that this book is VERY STEAMY, so if you prefer your books without sex in them, this may not be for you. It's not exactly erotica, but it's pretty damn hot! Personally, I thought it was juuuust riiiiight...except for that one part REALLY shocked me. Who knew people put earrings THERE?! ;)

I gasped when strong. arms wrapped around me from behind. Then I melted when he buried his face in my neck. Jared spun me around and pressed me up against the cool metal of my car door. His hands were on my face, in my hair, slipping down my sides before he brought them back up to force me to look at him. “Thank you.” Desperation poured from him, his hold increasing as he stared down at the shock I felt lining my face. “Thank you for fucking believing in me, Aly. For getting me.” Fear lashed across his face. Or maybe it was remorse. He swallowed hard, his voice hardened with strain. “I’m scared to think of where I’d be right now without you.” That fear that had flashed on his face coiled in my stomach. Because I didn’t know where he’d been. Had no idea where the last three months had taken him. How far. How low. I wasn’t sure I wanted to know. “You’re here with me now.” I had to believe that was all that mattered. He grimaced. Gripping my face, he leaned down and kissed me, hard and demanding. There was no soft affection, none of the playfulness from upstairs. This was a seal. A branding. He jerked back. A storm raged in the blue of his eyes. “Don’t think I can’t see all those questions burning in your mind, Aly. And I may not have all the answers right now, but we are going to figure this out. Do you understand me? I promise you that.” And I saw it all there, the torment that plagued Jared, this beautiful man who had lost his way, the one desperate to find his way home.

Blog Tour Stop for "Thief" by Tarryn Fisher Giveaway & More

Check out my 5 star review of "Thief", enter Tarryn's giveaway and don't miss the EXCLUSIVE TEASER CHAPTER SEGMENT of "Thou Shalt Not" by J. J. Rossum

Note to Self

Love is patient; love is kind.
Love doesn't boast or brag.
There's no arrogance in love;
it's never rude, crude, or indecent-it's not self absorbed.
Love isn't easily upset.
Love doesn't tally wrongs.
Love trusts, hopes, and endures no matter what.
Love will never become obsolete.
I'll fight for her.

Caleb Drake never got over his first love. Not when he got married. Not when she got married. When life suddenly comes full circle Caleb must decide how how far he is willing to go to get the aloof and alluring Olivia Kaspen back. But for every action in life there is a consequence, and soon Caleb finds out that sometimes love comes at an unbearably high price.

Stacy's Review

“Thief” by Tarryn Fisher

"Eventually. That word is so us, isn't it?...Eventually, we'll come back together, fall apart, come back together.

First let me just say “Thief” is definitely a 5 star book and I am sooo beyond happy with it.  I’ll be honest, I was worried about reading it when I saw the title release. Then when it downloaded to my kindle I was full of anticipation and excitement all wrapped up in a "what does she have in store for us" package.

"So, I fight. That's it. That's my only option. And if I don't get her, If she doesn't choose me. I'm going to be that guy - who spends his life alone and pining. Because I sure as hell am not going to replace her with any more Leahs or Jessicas or any-goddamn-body-else...It's Olivia or nothing.”

When I tapped the sexy little book cover on my phone and I froze. Yup. FROZE. I knew going in that there would be answers to questions from the first two books, “The Opportunist” and “Dirty Red” that I wanted, needed…these are questions that PLAGUED me months. Why would I freeze then? After waiting all that time and they’re finally right there?  I was scared of what those answers would be and I didn’t know if my heart could take the truths that would be revealed.

"She has the kind of love that can stain your soul, make you beg not to have one, just to escape the spell she’s put you under. I’ve tried to break myself of her over and over, but it’s pointless. I’ve got more of her in my veins than blood…

“Thief” is an absolutely amazing completion to the series and gave me everything I’ve come to love from the author.

"I tried to break her before. Now, I just wanted her as she was. I wanted every last beautiful flaw. I wanted the witty one-liners and the coldness that only I knew how to warm. I wanted the fight and the friction and the make-up sex. I wanted her to wake up in my bed every morning. I wanted her shitty cooking and her beautiful, complex mind.

Tarryn Fisher doesn’t sugar coat happiness and give you everything you could hope for. She makes you live through the ugly so you’ll love the beautiful all that much more.

November 10th 9pm-10pm EST

“Good morning,” I said, not wanting to stir her from her paper reading. But very much wanting to also.
  She turned around.
“Oh, hey you,” she said with a sense of familiarity that made my nerves tingle. “Good morning back.”
All she had to do was smile and I swear I would have done anything she asked. Including commit serious crimes.
  “Is this your first meeting?”
“No, I came to the meeting on Tuesday also.”
  “Oh, nice.”
She lowered her head and her voice, “They are so much fun!”
This time I smiled. Sarcasm almost always made me smile.
“Why are you sitting back there?” she asked. “You’re dumb. Sit next to me.”
She patted the chair to her right and I went straight for it, like a dog being called to the side of its owner. There hadn’t even been a second thought, just an immediate response. Surely, anyone paying attention would have thought I was pathetic.
Sitting next to her brought the sensation of diving headfirst into the aforementioned lilies. She wasn’t wearing too much perfume by any means, but what she had sprayed on was severely dangerous to my brain.

The meeting better start soon or I can’t be held responsible for what I do next.
