"Good" by S. Walden
New Adult romance
New Adult romance
Synopsis:
Cadence Miller is a good girl. She just happens to make one
terrible mistake her junior year in high school which costs her ten months in
juvenile detention. Now a senior, she’s lost everything: her best friend, the
trust of her parents, driving privileges, Internet access. It’s a lonely
existence.
But there is one bright spot: Mark Connelly, her very cute, very off-limits 28-year-old calculus teacher. She falls hard for him—a ridiculous schoolgirl crush headed nowhere. She can’t help it. He’s the only good thing at Crestview High. She doesn’t expect him to reciprocate her feelings. How inappropriate, right? But he does. And he shows her.
And that’s when her life goes from bad to good.
Cadence was a good girl. A good daughter, student, and friend. A good Christian who makes one bad decision and all of a sudden she's exiled from the good life she's been living for the last 17 years. Upon her release from Juvie, she discovers that she has nothing left. She tries to prove that she's still a good girl, and that she's learned from her mistake. She does everything right. Still, she has no friends, no freedom, no love from anyone including her parents, even the so-called Christians at her church (whom she's known her entire freaking life) are judging her. As if all of that wasn't bad enough, she's being constantly bullied by mean bitches at school. Everyone is against her, everyone except for Mr. Connelly, her (very hot) Calculus teacher.

Tamron's 4 1/2 Star Review of "Good" by S. Walden
So what's a good girl to do?
Be BAD, be very, VERY BAD with said hot Calculus teacher. (YUP, that's what I'd have done, too. If you're gonna have a bad rep, you might as well have the fun that goes along with it, right?) But seriously, she is utterly alone, and he offers her comfort, makes her feel good again, and when she turns 18 (YES, they wait until she's an ADULT) she gives him her V-Card. They fall hard for each other, but plan to keep their relationship a secret until after she graduates. Of course, this doesn't work out as planned...Drama ensues...and then...BOOM, CLIFFHANGER.
Okay, so y'all already know how I feel about cliffhangers, so there's really no need for me to tell you how much I absolutely HATE them. Again. I've decided that the reason I hate a cliffhanger ending so much is because I get so invested in the story that I have to know what happens next. And I have to know right damn now! Yes, I know that patience is a virtue. It just isn't one of MY virtues. I'm going out of my mind right now worrying about what happens to Cadence and Mark! (ARE YOU FREAKIN' HAPPY, S. WALDEN?!?! HUH? ARE YA'?!?! Well, you should be, because you rock!)
Good is better than good. It's GREAT! It's VERY well written. S. Walden took a brave leap to write about such a controversial topic. Legally an adult or not, Teacher/Student relations are still forbidden to most people. I will admit, I was taken-aback at first. I would have been fine had she been in College and he her Prof. but since she was a Senior in High School, it was a tougher sell. Ms. Walden got it done, though. I LITERALLY could not pull away from it. I am rooting for Cadence and Mark. I loved following their journey. It felt REALISTIC. I loved their "first time". So often, an author will write about a girl losing her virginity and make it sound all beautiful and wonderful and orgasmic....and the heavens opened up and the angels sang, blah blah blah, and I came and fireworks shot out of my vagina....when, in reality that shit fucking hurts. Bad. And even after the hot, searing pain eases up it's still uncomfortable, and really not beautiful. It's bloody and scary. I LOVED that Ms. Walden kept it real. The entire book was like that for me. REAL. RAW. GOOD? Nope...FUCKING BRILLIANT!!!

S. Walden used to teach
English before making the best decision of her life by becoming a full-time
writer. She lives in Georgia with her very supportive husband who prefers
physics textbooks over fiction and has a difficult time understanding why her
characters must have personality
flaws. She is wary of small children, so she has a Westie instead. Her dreams
include raising chickens and owning and operating a beachside inn on the Gulf
Coast (chickens included). When she's not writing, she's thinking about it.
