Heather has given us an excerpt from "Love Notes"

I glance over at her shyly. “This is very new for me. I have never been in this situation and I can’t believe of all people he wants to date me.”

“Awww, so he asked you finally, huh? How do you feel about that?”

“I like him, I really do but I’m worried. Like if he gets to know me he may not like me--at all. Then I've put myself out there only to be crushed and have my heart broken. I don’t think I can handle that. I just don’t think he will like what he discovers if he gets to know me.” I stop walking and just stand there and look at Tori. I can see the wheels turning in her head.

“First of all when you say shit like that, it pisses me off. It’s also a dig against me. Like I don’t have good taste when picking out my friends. I don’t like stupid people. I like you and I knew I would, the first time we talked. I’m not sure why you don’t think people aren’t going to like you when they get to know you. Here is what I know, and hear me out because I am not going to say this again. This may be harsh, but I’m always going to be honest and tell you exactly how it is, 'cause that’s me and you deserve that. Plus, that’s how I roll and I will always give it to you straight. She peers at me before questioning, Got it?”

At this point all I can do is nod my head that I get it. Man this chick means business when she gets all riled up. Mental note. Never--piss--off--Tori--ever.

“First off, you are an amazing person. You’re smart, pretty and you don’t even know it, which makes you even prettier in my opinion. You’re absolutely not fat, so please get that out of your head. You actually have a body, which most girls would kill for. I’m as flat in the boob area as the Sahara desert and would love to have something up there, at least a bra could hold up. Actually Charlie, if I swung that way, I would be on you like white on rice. You would so be my type.” Of course, at this point she’s laughing and I know we’re good. Tori laughing, is always a good sign.

“Har, har Tori. Okay so last time, promise. You really think he likes me and likes what he sees?”

“Yep, sure do sugar plum. He looks at you like a man looks at a steak. Or maybe like a lion looks at a gazelle. Or how a snake looks at a mouse. I could go on and on you know.”

“So you're saying, he wants to eat me for dinner?” I can’t help but start laughing.

5 Emotion Filled Stars Review of "Safe Word" by Teresa Mummert

Safe Word by Teresa Mummert

5 Emotion Filled Stars!!!

Where to start....? First, I was beyond excited to get an ARC of Safe Word! Yes, it was amazing!!!

I was instantly addicted to Colt. It was love at first chapter for me. I wanted to make him feel better, heal the brokenness I could feel within him. His confidence is complete and he oozes alpha male and raw sex appeal, leaving you with a hot steamy hunger and he has the follow through to leave you satisfied yet wanting more.

The journey Teresa Mummert took me on and her wrap up of this story is simply awesome.

There is a specific story revelation towards the end, that I never even suspected or thought of it as a possibility which completely ties to the last sentence of the first paragraph in chapter 1 'Rose Colored Glasses'.

Ahh, Rose Colored Glasses, admittedly, I too, view the world through Rose Colored Glasses. I'd be more than happy for Colt to fracture those glasses, opening my eyes to reality & spend the time with him to accomplish that. Believe me, he would do it with ease.

His actions, responses and thoughts, are they redeemable? You'll have to decide that for yourself. Being broken leads to these  decisions, reactions & self protective strategies.

Lily... I'll admit, as sad as her situation was, she made me mad. Surprisingly to some I am sure, and I may be in the minority, but it is what it is. She's as broken as Colt and relates to him on a level that only they could share. Even with the circumstances being what they were for her, the decisions she made and the immense pain that they caused, were too much for me to easily forgive. I did say that I was addicted to Colt right? That I wanted to heal his brokenness... Make him feel better.

The stark need that they have for each other is clear. Their hunger for the others love is heart breaking.

Safe Word is amazing, a roller coaster of emotions swept through me while reading it. I even feared that Teresa would make me ugly cry at a couple points and I'll leave that for you to find out if she did when you read it. It's a beautiful story of love, loss,  pain, healing, forgiveness and redemption. Not to forget the Smokin HOT scenes that left me searching for a fan!

This is a 5 Star keeper shelf book for me :-)

Excerpt:

No one answered at the farmhouse when they had called on the phone.

Caldwell scanned the perfect rows of green cornstalks that stood with their yellow silk painting a line to the vanishing point. At their convergence, the old white farmhouse ghosted against a cerulean sky.

He viewed the vast acreage, feeling overwhelmed. When he spotted the faded gray barn, he took off at a run. At the fence, a beautiful Paint horse stood stock-still. On the ground, a bare foot poked out from the last row of corn. Such an idyllic scene spoiled by the stark naked human body.

He approached with caution, looking from side to side and behind him. She had dumped the body here and left, but he wasn’t taking any chances. The man wore a peaceful expression. The sound that reached Caldwell next brought him to a halt.
